Press Release Sample

In writing a press release sample that is sure to attract its intended target, there are some basic elements that you need to keep in mind.

You will need to use the correct paper size. Though this may vary from one client to another, the most commonly used is an 8 ½” x 11” paper. A minimum of an inch margin on each side of the page is to be used. To draw attention to the headlines, you can use bold typeface. In title case, capitalize the first letters of all words except “a”, “an”, “the”, or propositions such as “of”, “to”, or “from”. It is easier to read when upper and lower cases are combined. Be sure to have paragraphs finished on one page instead of carrying it over to the next page of your release sample.

Use only one side of each sample paper you are to submit. If another page is to follow your release, type the word “more” in between two dashes at the bottom of the page. Place it on the center. This is to let your intended reader know that another page follows.

To end your release sample, type three hash symbols ( # # # ) or -30 – across the center of the page a couple of lines after the last line of your text. Include your city of origin, country or state in the date line of your release sample. Nothing more is amateurish than a release that simply reads USA or nothing at all. By following and observing all of the parameters mentioned above, you can be sure that your press release sample will be taken in serious consideration if not outright taken up for hiring. Your press release sample may as well serve as your guide when you finally landed the job as a writer.
